Aurora Community Service for Youths, 2015
1400 Wellington St E, Aurora; Civic
In Construction
In association with CS&P Architects Inc. In the past 20 years, the community center has expanded internally, compromising critical circulation spaces which divided the once unified building. Today, the pool, the gym, and the arena all have separate entrances and cannot mutually access from the inside. The imploded development has raised huge challenges for future growths.
Our design proposal hopes to revert, renew, and reach beyond. First, we alleviated the added blockages that has divided the complex over the years. Then, we re-worked to build a new centralized threshold, bringing new clarity to the circulation within the facility. Finally, we added new programs to suit the demands of the expanding community in Aurora. Further, the complex is designed with a masterplan intended for future expansions.
